Why is Izzie being blamed for Denny's death? Yes, I've watched all the shows and I know the whole bit about her lying to get him a heart and then making him go into cardiac arrest and all that. But during the transplant the surgeons said he wouldn't have lasted another hour on his old heart anyway. So he would have died either way, right? Is Izzie somehow responsible for the clots that formed that killed him? Was she supposed to be tending to him instead of primping for the party? I'm very confused!

They meant he wouldn't have lasted an hour AFTER the wires were cut. Before the wires were cut he would have been fine until they found another heart.

If Izzie did not cut the leads to the LVAC unit then the heart muscle would have continued to get oxygen and and continue to pump. Deprived of oxygen the heart muscle deteriorated rapidly, hence the statement that he would have died in an hour. She was the primary cause for him being on the table in such a condition. BTW, she didn't get ready for the prom until after he was out of surgery and fine and she told him "Yes" to his proposal, which may have been the reason he died. She got him excited after the surgery. Meanwhile, the Nazi screwed up by leaving him to get dressed for the surgery herself. With Burke out of commission and the other heart specialist gone she should have been extra careful with a patient with a history of blood clots and a recent transplant. He should have been monitores around the clock. The fact that Izzie found him dead without a nurse is a sign that the hospital screwed up. That does not happen. A transplant patient is monitored around the clock electronically. The hospital has to answer for the prom. Izzie only has to answer for the LVAC. The Nazi has to answer for everything.

Izzie is not being blamed for his death. If she was, she would not be allowed back to work, and she would have lost her license/been in the process of losing her license. People around the hospital are just angry at her for crossing the boundary and getting involved with a patient, and for putting Miranda, Meredith, Yang and others' licenses, anyone who was in the room with her during and after the cutting of the wire, in jeopardy. The chief is especially angry at her because if the word gets out that there was foul play involved in Denny getting his heart, then it could have serious consequences for the hospital in general.

They said he would have died of the complications that arose from cutting the wire. If she hadn't cut the wire those complications would not have been. He would have survived for quite a long time with the pump that he had installed. Izzie was determined that he would get "that heart" and not have to wait for the next one. The only reason he got the heart was because Izzie cut the wire and made him worse.

Well he wouldn't have gotten the heart if Izzie didn't cut the wire thus he wouldn't have gotten the blood clot thus he wouldn't have died if Izzie didn't steal the heart. But I agree it's not her fault he died

I think she's in trouble for cutting the alavant wire. I don't think she's being blamed for his death just cutting the wire. No she wasn't supposed to be be tending to him when she was home primping for the prom.

If you kill someone, are you absolved from guilt if they were going to die anyway? Current law says, "No," you're still responsible.

she's getting blamed cuz she cut the wire, so he'll get the other heart and so this other guy that was ahead of the tranplant list won't get it.
