the key word i am taking in is kinda nerdy.
if he is the "kinda nerdy" kinda guy i am think about, if u drop enough signs and talk to him a lot he will eventually ask u out
otherwise, ask him out to a movie or somthing, u don't have to ask people so formally all the time.

No why wait if you like him go for it. Guys don't take it as your a slut if you strait forward atleast most guys and the one you described seems like someone who is probally going to like you asking him out more than most. So my suggestion is just ask him out to a movie or dinner and see what happends feel out the way he reacts when you ask as well on the date to see if you both like eachother and take it from there. Some guys are just too timid to ever make the first move. I say go for it, I doubt you making the first move would turn him off. It wouldn't be a problem for me.
