On the beaches of Normandy. I used to go into Granville on the cargo ship I spent some time on. I'd sit on the beach watchimg the locals chipping them out of the rocks.

Hi

everyone in France has different opinions on this.

In my area people prefer the oysters from Etang de Thau on the Med coast.

There are three different places in France where good oysters are cultivated...
A) BRETAGNE
B) BASSIN D'ARCACHON
3) SÈTE (BASSIN DE THAU)
