whenever i drive my car for 10 minutes or longer it will start having rpm problems.

when i barely touch the gas pedal the rpm meter will shoot up and will keep going unless i take my foot off the gas.

what is the problem with my car? (2000 nissan maxima)

It could be the ECM, but I would guess it is the throttle position sensor. Needs to be replaced, $90 Auto Zone. 1 hour labor. DIY. $240-$350 at a shop.

Older autos like my previous ford siearra ghia reved as much as approximately 2'000 rpm and could stall with air con on and utilising means sterring to bypass around corners maybe by way of fact it hasent been used for a mutually as ( it might give up after it starts off getting used )

Engine control module is overheating probably. If not qualified to do these repairs then take it to an authorized service center.

well, when you floor it, it's normal for it to accelerate.
it could be several of things mentioned.
if it's a manual transmission, is your clutch OK?

its suppose to move when you give it gas.
