In order:

Lincoln
Washington
FD Roosevelt
Jefferson

There is really no right answer, but Lincoln is the wrong answer, for one major reason. That being he was the only president who failed to keep the Union intact through out his presidency. Sure he did mend that rift eventually, but he was part of why that rift opened.

But my vote would go for Thomas Jefferson
Second would be George Washington
Third FDR
And then some of my favorites are Wilson, Harding (as a president he sucked, maybe even the worst ever, but I like him because he was just a regular guy), I also like Clint and W. Bush (again not the greatest president, but just a regular guy)

President Ronald Reagan

I'm not saying this because I'm a Republican, but because of where our country went because of him. Ronald Reagan was an awesome president and helped bring communism down. No president has been perfect, but Reagan opened relations that were once so closed, we wondered if WW III was going to happen at any moment.

JFK was shot because he was getting reckless with the nuclear button and this is the man many morons think is their best president. Why bother asking Americans anything? You will be better informed talking to a dolphin. They got more brains.

most american's would celebrate a president who actually won them a war.
they have started many wars.
lost some fairly big ones or walked away at just the wrong time.
quite often they have supported the wrong side or aided terrorist organisations(taliban,IRA).
they helped us in the UK defeat germany and then charged us for the privilege for the next fifty odd years whilst spending millions of dollars rebuilding germany and japan.
whilst they decided that the best way to spend the interest they plundered from britain was to fly to the moon. what genius!!!
they still have hopes for georgie boy though.
god help us.
god damn america.

Americans' opinions are varied. Some say JFK, others say FDR, Abraham Lincoln, or George Washington.
I'm one of the latter. FDR was awesome (for the most part), and so were both Washington and Lincoln.

Don't know officially, if there is such a thing, but one poll I saw thought that President Lincoln was the best president of the U.S. I don't know how he would have fared with the press of today hounding him every second though.

JFK???? What's wrong with you people. Did you choose him just because his assassination was the most widely talked about?

Ronald Reagan and Abraham Lincoln would be the best Presidents this country has ever seen.
