10 answers

109-2^2*5/(39-35)=
109-4*5/4=
109-5=
104

Note: the answer above assumes it's (109-2^2)*5/(39-35), I'm assuming it's 109-[2^2*5/(39-35)], which is the correct interpretation, based on the way the question is typed and the accepted rules of precedence for arithmetic operations.

Remember Bermudas,ie brackets, exponents and roots, multiplication and division, addition and subtraction. So

109 -2^2 x 5 / (39 -35)
= 109 - 2^2 x 5/4
= 109 - 4 x 5/4
= 109- 5
= 104

Note that most pocket calculators now follow these rules and get the correct answers. Try it

Have u ever heard of "Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally's"rules?
This phrase means that u have to do the operations in this order: parethesis first(Please)
Exponents second (Excuse)
multiplication and divison in order from left to right (My Dear)
then addition and subtraction from left to right (Aunt Sally)

So, in your problem, you would first take 39-35 which equals 4
so now you are left with 109-2^2*5/4 because you are left with 4 from the parenthesis

Now you do exponents. Take 2 to the second power. Which is 4. Now you have 109-4*5/4.Because you get 4 because you substitute 4 for 2^2.

next you need to do multiplication and division in order from left to right so now you need to take 4*5 which is 20 so now you put 20 in the problem in place of the 4*5 now you have 109-20/4

there is still more division to do so you do that next. You take 20/4 which is 5. So now you are left with 109-5. Which is a really easy problem to do.

109-5 is 104. That should be the answer you get if we are right.

What was your answer any way? just curious.

this was every step in number form and in order so you can check your work with ours. Here it is:

original problem
109-2^2*5/(39-35)
109-2^2*5/4
109-4*5/4
109-20/4
109-5
Answer: 104

so are you attempting to element it into 2 binomials? ok then that's the way you do it. with equations like this (x^2+40 9) you're able to do something like (x-7)(x+7) and that would opt to equivalent x^2+40 9, to get from x^2+40 9 to (x-7)(x+7) you may take the sq. root of 40 9 after which use a plus verify in one equation and a minus verify in the quite a few equation. doing a topic like 2x^2+10x+12 that's recommended to be sure out the climate of 12 like a million-12 or 2-6 or-3-4 for this equation the respond is two-6 through fact 2 circumstances 2 equals 4 and four plus 6 equals ten that's the midsection style so the binomial for this equation could seem as though this (2x+6)(x+2). in case you recognize a through fact of get from binomials to the equation then you extremely could understand this in case you do no longer then there is now to no longer so plenty extra useful i might furnish help to with, i extremely wish that that's smart and better of success on your attempt day after right now!

The only trick is the order of operations -

exponents and roots
multiplication and division
addition and subtraction

parenthesis modify the order

109 - 4 * 5/4

109 - 20/4

109 - 5

104
