inside the box is nothing illegal, but i have to handcarry it because my friend will give it to me in bali (where i'm transitting, so i can't put it in my luggage). I'm sure it will pass the x-ray check, but i'm afraid they will have to open it.. won't they?
the box is 40 x 20 x 20 cm, and it's wrapped in fancy papers, just like a normal present (it is)..

Yes it is likely to be opened before you board the plane because of new security regulations to screen explosives not detected by X-Ray. And on arrival it will be opened, especially if you are carrying it for someone else. NEVER take anything for someone else without seeing the content first, you will be the one going to jail if there is drugs inside.
Also, most transit lounges have no access for people from the outside anyway.

Don't wrap it. Buy a fancy box that you can put a ribbon around or something. Chances are you'll have to open it. People who carry on Christmas presents have to unwrap them, so you'd probably have o also.

If they feel that they need to inspect the contents, then you will have to open it. I'm sure there will be a Muslim behind you that they whisk through security, but they will inspect you. Thank god for political correctness.

My friend's mom had a box of fudge from utah with her, and security DESTROYED it. they smooshed it. She isnt out alot monetarily, but she really wanted the fudge, she bought it at the airport!!! that is why she didnt check it
