No. I don't smoke any more, gave it up completly 3 years ago at 22. i still have the odd ciggie but nothing much. But wait til your at least 60 to give up now. Ther health fanatics will just say yes but statistics and personal expereince show that in your 50's the body is at it's most vulnerable to change, as it's changing itself for later life. If you give up now you'll probably have cancer and be dead in 3 years. Try cutting down slowly, to stop when your about 61. You'll be more likely to stick to it this way and your body will be ready to adapt again.
At 54 a friend of my dad's quit smoking, 3 months later he was told he had cancer, had an operation to cut it out, was given the all-clear, and was dead from it 6 months after that. An uncle of mine at 51 quit smoking and never saw that Christmas, and my great grandmother smoked all her life to 89 with no problems before giving up. The new imbalance and her lessened ability to cope with stress gave her a heart attack and she died later that year.
Ignore the health boffins. They seem to spend more time guessing. Ease it off slowly but don't let your body experience any sudden changes until it's ready to handle them.

Yep.. I think it's a great idea.. Been thinking about it myself. I'm 51 been smoking since I was 16. Ain't afraid of dieing, but I notice the effects of smoking more and more.. Shortness of breath, can't taste food, coughing ect.. You know.. Anyway lets put a hundred dollars in a kitty and quit.. whom
ever smokes looses there hundie. If a person does quit.. would not take long to save that hundie.

Smoking is not good for you either way, but if you enjoy it why bother quiting? You'll quit when you are ready whether you are 56 or 92! Your age doesn't matter.

If you really want to and you have the will power then you go for it.
Good luck and I hope you manage to do it, I am 30 and have been wanting to give up for ages now but everytime I try I get stressed and grab a *** straight away
If you do manage to do it let me know how so I can try
Good Luck

armmmm! no! sorry to be so arrogant and not go with the rest of the flow, but since you've got this far... it will be really hard on you to give up and there is no point in stopping now, at least try and make your kids(if you have any) don't smoke!

Everybody should give up smoking ! Only problem is to find an easier way to eliminate all the tensions that drive you to it.

Age has no rule. Goverment says (we no longer have no choice in our food source). You look for a chesse buger on the high street now. You can't find it - there-fore you have no nothing or snacks.

Quitting has health benefits whatever age you are and however long you have been smoking. I'm advise it.
