They can't even frame their questions grammatically correctly. How is it that they cannot recognise this ?
What on earth has been happening to their education ?
Are teachers going to take any blame ?

God bless Foghorn.

I have never seen such a verbose, longwinded and rambling answer just stuffed with errors.

When you set out to critique others, please make sure you are not setting yourself up to be judged.

They can't even frame their questions (grammatically correctly). How is it that they cannot (recognise) this ?
What on earth has (been happening) to their education ?

We all make errors, but when we recognize the problem, we should start correcting ourselves first. This way we can help others learn by being a good example. I have to wonder if you attended school, because educators don't teach poor grammar and spelling skills. True, some educators are more effective than others, and some learners are more studious than others, but that's when the home should step in and work along with the school to ensure the proper education of the student.

As far as the grammar I believe, like some here, it is mistakes, laziness, and the internet lingo/jargon. What I do not like is questioning whether the teachers are to be blamed. There are more students graduating and going to college then ever before. No society has ever attempted to do what we're doing, in history. It is a monumental task, and the biggest social exercise in the history of the world. No society has ever attempted to do what we're doing, and overcoming so many barriers to provide a free education to anyone living within their borders. What has really changed is the society. We have become a society of it isn't my fault, it is someone Else's. From weight to the problems in New Orleans, it is no ones fault. It isn't the teachers' fault, the governments' fault, but everyone's fault, all of the US society doesn't want to take responsibility for anything that goes wrong.

I don't think a lot of it is grammar at all but rapid typing and the wish to hurry, hurry, hurry. I am, for example, an excellent speller but a terrible typist. But I don't think the "Askers" really care if they are correct. here. I am sure they can recognize it, at least some of them, but in this format it really isn't that important.

I also agree that education as a whole has suffered a lot but I don't think it is fair to expect teachers to take all the blame. Parents need to be more involved in their kid's educations. Take an interest. Help and guide with homework. Keep an eye on the teachers!

I presume you are prepared to cite particular questioners (vide - those that ask). I have asked the Yahoo community a number of questions, and have not, as far as I am concerned, had my powers to articulate, questioned.

Yahoo Answers offers a medium through which anyone can communicate, and whilst I do cringe at some of the more textspeak - posited questions, and indeed would perhaps reply in terms that would require a few asterisks (****). it has to be said that the medium exists to promulgate communication.

You state that querents are grammatically incompetent, but since when has positing three questions, without parenthetical intersteces and with no apparent paragraphic structure, been considered grammatical, or even, pertaining to the appropriate use of language, vernacular, vulgar, or otherwise.

I'm not personally taking any blame as a teacher, lol. I teach them grammar and force capital letters and periods down their little 8 year old throats. What difference does it make to these kids if they know it or not? They'll get passed on to the next grade level, and they'll still get jobs because people need employees. Griping about it on Answers isn't going to make an impact. We need real world applications where we can deny stupid people certain privileges for being stupid.

Much of this board is infected with text-speak. If we could imagine that this is due to speed, (shorthand for the busy man) we should make excuses. Posts often show poor use of english grammar, however, if we have many overseas posters from non-english speaking nations, we should make excuses. If we are UK residents in receipt of a full education, wt r d xcuses?

Instead of asking if teachers are going to accept the blame- why not ask if the students/askers accept the blame for not learning what the teacher attempted to teach?

Sadly, it hard to believe that some of the questions are in English.

I blame the three Rs teaching:

Reading, Riting and Rithmatic?

??? Its hopeless. If the educators are confused, then what hope is there for the educated.

Unfortunately, this internet lingo is just allowing for grammatical laziness. Add to this that many people are not very smart. Kidding. Well, sort of.
