I would suspect SpyWare. You should have an anti-spyware solution on your computer. I recommend that you go to http://www.download.com and get AD-AWARE and SpyBot Search & Destory. Install, run, update and scan your computer with both programs.
If you have less than 512MB of RAM, then consider getting more. Check your system at http://www.coastmemory.com

Hi there sounds like you need a doctor have you got reboot discs for your PC , next clean out any unwanted files pictures any thing you could put on discs to save. use only your self as user not to many members with files etc, friends etc, still same go to your Internet and put in the Search box , fix PC and you get loads of pages come up to help you and some will put it right there and then other then that take it to a shop where you live or to a store like PC world . best of luck

If you have no adware or spyware(that you're aware of) try disk defragmenting. Start > all programs > accessories > system tools > disk defragment. This helps reduce file spaces on your hard drive. Also disk clean up

Do a clean install of windows.
Another option is CTRL+ALT+DELETE, goto processes, and close all items which don't have SYSTEM next to them.
Other than that, thats about all im good for!

you may want to run more than one spyware scan some detect some that others miss. Also defrag. scandisk and such

if you put in you xp cd then follow the instructions to wipe the laptop and it will automatically put xp back on the whole thing takes about an hour and thats garunteed to work

Check which process is taking up all your resources.
Crtl-Alt-Del
Select Task Manager
Select Process tab
Go thru the list to see which process is taking up all the CPU- then you can end task.

make sure and save all important data. then reload windows if that does not work, could be anything from the battery to memory to the hard disk.

go to lavasoft.com and download the adaware program sounds liek add ware and spy ware on your computer those that told you to go to download.com to get one obvously dont know that you get spy ware from massivley from download.com...do a good clean of your computer and rerun any virus protection you ahve on your computer and that should help good luck
