My roomate just tripped and fell on the palms of her hands. Her fingernails are slighty purple and it hurts her bottom palm and like the lower meaty part of her thumb. No swelling. ?????????? Iceing it, but is it broke, sprained,tendon???? TELL ME! Its her 21st birthday too!!!

Yeah, there are a lot of little bones in the hand. If she can move her fingers then the carpals are ok. Not much can be done for the smaller bones in the wrist, but it really should be looked at by a professional and quickly.

I broke my thumb once at the joint and thought it was just dislocated. I waited a couple of days and since your hands heal very quickly the bones fused together wrongly and I had to have it operated on to re-break and set the bones correctly.

If her fingers did not hit the ground when she fell and they are turning purple then she is losing blood flow to her fingers and that is a serious problem. Also if she cannot move her wrist or hand then she needs to go to the emergency room. Your best bet is to get it checked out immeadiatley. Better safe then sorry.

Sorry, but an X-Ray is the only way to be sure. Don't take any chances.

take her to the ER and have her hands exrayed and assessed by a doctor, she could have done some serious damage.

she needs an xray thats the only way to tell
