im looking for the music, but as i search, it cannot be found. there are relatively few places where i find the traces, where the rock isnt burried underground.
the music of the now is only young people's complaints, their emotions raining fake, wanting to be sad, to cry 'till all are mad.
the true music is gone, and with it the whole throng: from lennon and to page, should they have suffered to hear this age, turn in their graves with rage.

can someone PLEASE GIVE ME A SIGN that HATE and LOVE of SADNESS are not ALL THAT LIVE in THE WORLD OF ROCK???
red hot chili peppers, cold play, there are but a few...
it is disheartening to consider...

yes, foo fighters, five for fighting, goo goo dolls. all very good, but too few. so few bands now have any respect for the ideals of rock formed some 30-40 years ago

Seems you'll need to expand your listening pleasure. Foo For Fighting's good, U2, The Goo-Goo Dolls are great. It's ironic I've asked the same question. I've started blowing the dust off oldies and enjoying some timeless classics. Good luck on your search for music, it seems to be hidden behind the "bling, Bling", skirt chasing and the endless pursuit of whips (cars).

There doesn't seem to be any 'anthem' songs anymore (stuff like 'Stairway To Heaven' or 'Freebird').....

It seems like ever since the mid-90's, most rock singers sound like Eddie Vedder clones.

I don't see people talking/listening much about Nickelback or Staind 20 years from now.

There are exceptions, of course. But compare most bands today to bands in the 60's to 80's......

60's to 80's - Led Zeppelin, Beatles, Rolling Stones, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Doors, Aerosmith, The Who, AC/DC, Allman Brothers Band, The Kinks, Bob Dylan, The Clash, U2

Now - Nickelback, Staind, Pearl Jam, Hoobastank, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Live

In terms of 'influential' modern bands, there are only a couple I can think of.....Pearl Jam & Nirvana

Amen,I havent seen anything good(though there are a few)bands without a song with a price tag attached to it(Sales!)the heart of the beast of rock seems to be pumping still, the one thing I've noticed is very few songs get airplay after six months where I can say(and yes I'm 40 and old school)the quote(i hate the term) classic rock still prevails through the pages of time

Music means many things to many people. The music that touches you holds a personal meaning to you, just like the music of today's generation means something to them, whether real or imagined. I do agree that music today is less emotionless, but I don't blame the artists, I blame the record companies for only wanting hit after hit. It creates "throw away" music. How many bands now put out more than a few albums? Not many, because even the jaded youth don't feel sincerity in today's music.

If you want real rock, you are going to have to go back several years. There are a few bands that are real rock, but most are pretty commercial. Buckcherry sounds like the rock of yesterday, but I can't really think of any other band off the top of my head. Rock should be about sex, drugs, and partying, not anti-war, I'm so depressed, or you suck. Someday, true rock will be back, but right now, I think it's taken a vacation.

I agree, good rock music is hard to find anymore. Check out Audioslave, though. It's Chris Cornell from Soundgarden with Rage Against The Machine's band. Tom Morello is a great lead guitarist! (Which if you liked Rage, you probably already know!)
