To tell you the truth, being a man in a male chauvinist society like the one we are living in, offers a lot of advantages rather than disadvantages. A clear example of it is that a great majority prefer men over women when giving a job.
Another common example is associated with prejudices including both sexes(though in these women are the least favoured ones), that is to say: When women sleep with several men they are bitches, but when we, men, do the same, we are called stallions or "machos". On the other hand, gay people are scarcely seen as "people" while lesbians are not so misjudged.
By and large, men have always had strong positions throughout history and that has increased since mediaeval ages, although we didn't work for them. On the contrary, It is undeniable that women have reached higher positions in society as well as in a lot of fields due to their demonstrated capacities, which are nowadays more taken into account.
But as a whole, being a man is still a synonym for power, possibilities, force, and above all intelligence. Even so, it doesn't mean that women are useless, they are not, but the fact that they do not have the place they deserve and are seen only as the weak sex is also out of the question.
As Darwin said once, Natural selection is a process in which only the stronges species survives, and that has been the male one, I cannot say that women hadn't, I am reinforcing the fact that they have to fight with a lot of prejudices, stereotypes, social archetypes and a vast variety of stumbling blocks in order to reach the places they want...
I am not a male chauvinist, but I think that females' minds have been reshaped to be male chauvinist, it's a paradox, I know, but nowadays women unconsciously accept the place they have in the word without caring too much. I've heard a lot of complaints on the matter, but I never saw a woman acting according to feminist ideals... It sounds horrid, but at heart, I think that women have always accepted the role they're actually playing, accepting the so-called superiority of men over them, and that is really sad.
Women deserve the same as men, but it is somehow difficult for them to make their voices be heard when they are living in a society whose fulcrum turns upon males' wills.
To Sum up, being a man nowadays seems being capable to do (nearly) whatever you want without worrying about what others could think, and above all knowing that as a man you belong to some type of oligarchy accepted all over the world. It is heart aching to write that, but it appears to be a part of a universal truth. Hope it someday changes, but it depends entirely upon women...
Excellent question by the way!
Sincerely yours, Franco.

Being able to reverse into a parking space, understanding the principles of oversteer, understeer and tread shuffle. Being able to piss standing up, getting horizontal with lovely ladies, being able to fit an electrical plug, lying about women not having a fat @rse, the fact that its almost socially acceptable for men to get blind drunk and bond with other blind drunk males by hitting them, understanding the offside rule, holding out your hands with your fingers spread and motioning like your weighing two pinapples when you've just walked past a lady with large breasts, we get to be all geeky about techno toys and get away with it, people dont look at you like you're something they've just stepped in if you fart in public, we get paid more and the best of all is because were men (but really boys) theres no age limit to acting like a complete prat.

It's not about being a man. It's about enjoying who you are. If you can like yourself without being to big for your boots, you're onto a winner.
