And if yes how do you go about finding a good one?
I've tried patches, gum, "the easyway" book and accupuncture! Oh yeah and cold turkey! However after a few months (sometimes days) I fall back into the trap

There have been some great answers here. It would be nice to hear from more hypnotherapists if possible.

You need to examine why you "fall back into the trap" What exactly occurred that caused you to fall back? That's what you need to work on. Hypnotherapy will not give you motivation but it will magnify the motivation you already have. Have you heard of self-hypnosis? Just put yourself in to a very relaxed state with deep breathing and visualize your self as a nonsmoker. You could even have a funeral for your cigarettes, morn there passing and then get on with your life without them.

i recently tried hypnosis to quit smoking, it didn't work. i was hypnotised but i still had the craving for a ciggarette. my father used group hypnosis and quit smoking like 10 years ago after like 20 years of smoking. it just really depends on how bad you want it, although you have probably heard that a million times, as did i. im acutally going to try the patch again. but you can get prescriptions from the doctor for a niccotine inhaler that will help, or you can use welbutrin which is an anti depressant. alot of people have tried it and it worked. i had it prescribed but never took it b/c i had problems with panic attacks and that medicine could make it worse. good luck, i no im going to try again. but i will make a plan on what to do to fill the void, which is something i never really did the other times.

hypnotherapy has worked for many, and not at all for others. There are those that literally cannot be hypnotized. But by all means go for it, if you are really motivated to quit it may be all you need to succeed. Look for a Certified Hypnotherapist.

I used hypnotherapy to get over a fear of needles and it worked!
I have a friend who tried every trick in the book to quit smoking and none worked, but he tried hypnotherapy and he hasn't smoked for years now.

I know a few people who have tried hypnotherapy, but it didn't work for any of them. They all walked out and lit up.

I know two brothers who went to a hypno therapist to quit smoking. One brother gave up for good, and the other wanted a cigarette as soon as he finished the hypno session. Therefore I guess it could go either way.
