Most people use more black ink than colour ink. Therefore there is a higher demand for it and companies can then charge more for this product.

Because the companies that make and sell the ink know you use it a hell of a lot more than the color cartridges so they jack up the price to make money. See if your printer has the option to integrate the colors to make black and it saves your black ink.

Color cost me more, but I think they about give away the printers to sell the ink.

The pricing of ink cartidges for postscript laser printers for offices and professionals cannot in any way be compared to color cartidges for home inkjet printers. It's like comparing a car engine to a weed-eater motor. Real vs. rinkydink.

It's more expensive because people use it more often. Therefore you run out of it faster and need to buy it more often than you do color ink. It's all about supply and demand economics. Companies can charge more.

It's more expensive because it can be. Black ink is a necessity for most people, and they'll pay whatever they have to in order to have it.

It usually isn't....unless the cartridge size is bigger. Usually color is more expensive. It is smart to consider how much refill cost when looking at a printer.
