Depends on where in California you are. Here's some information on how to do it through the mail, and also how to get it in person. :o)

Usually after you have a baby the Bureau of Vital Statistics will send you a letter with the cost of the Birth Certificate. Wait for the letter. If you do not receive a letter then I would call my Pediatricians office and ask the nurse where you get the Birth Certificate. Congratulations on your new little life !!! Good Luck !!!

City hall...
I got it 2 weeks ago. I live near Los Angeles.
Just go there, fill the form, pay $17, and get the birth certificate rightly.
Is your baby already 3 months? Because they said that you can get the BC after 3 months
Where did you live?

You can go to the county clerks office but they will be sending you in the mail a paper with all the info and you just send it back with I am not sure how much now but it was like 15 dlls. and they will send you an original copy of the birth certificate. They usually send it to you after about a month.

Its called the county recorder office. If you live in Alameda County (nor cal) the office is in downtown Oakland. Its kinda like DMV but nicer. You go to the front desk and they give you a form and a number. You fill out the form while you wait (its a really basic form like name, address, kids name and birthday) then when they call your name you go to the window and you pay $19.00 and they print you a copy right there. It took less than an hour.

Go to this website and click on your county. The 3rd column is the county recorder's office location for your county

Call your local city hall or the hospital you delivered in they will know.

I know that in Nevada you go to your city hall"s department of Vital Records. Probably the same for you.

The hospital should have given you an application to fill out & send in to get the birth certificate.

i'm in california, you go to the county hall of records for whatever county she was born in, if you are unsure of where it is at in your area , look in the phone book under local government listings. When you go, be prepared to show Id and give the proper info, her name, date she was born, and year, pay the fee( 15 bucks i think) and you will get it in a few minutes!

You answered your own question. City Hall. You can call them up first to be sure. If not there, they will tell you where you need to go.
