Just one thing to add.
If the Universe is 15 billion years old, and our Solar System only 4.5 billion, and if life can spring up on every suitable planet in the universe, it would be feasible to say that there are civilisations a billion or more years in advance of us.
Considering the advances we have made in couple hundred years, just imagine a billion years. These people would be able to communicate or travel anywhere instantly. They would have mastered thought transfer; they would be able to transport many holographic versions of themselves all over the universe at the same time, and be able to do things we could not even imagine. Just think how unimaginable TV would be to people just 200 years ago. We have no comprehension of what we will be capable of in 200 years, let alone a billion.
So, if these people are out there, they would be as Gods to us because of their powers.

Big Bang Theory all the way! If you anlyaze light from a distance objects the light is redshifted meaning that the universe is expanding perhaps from an a huge explosion. Scientists believe that all matter in the universe came from an single point no bigger then the tip of your pen and exploded to the endless universe today.

Kalhil Gibran. He was a guy. Wrote some books, kinda poetry, kinda philosophy, talks about man's relationship to man. Doesn't talk about God...talks about the individual's experience and responsibilities.
It is okay if you want to be an Atheist, it is a free Universe.
It is good to study philosophy, it stretches you mind.
Science has accepted the existance of an intelligent designer, but that is another matter.

I believe in mulitiple dimensions (such as those described by string theory) and expansion of the universe until it collides with other dimensions. The energy produced by this collision causes a big-bang. This also explains how our universe began (by expanding until collided with another dimension).

the universe just always "was".
I think in philosophy they say you can't have something without it's oppisite, such as good/evil. Therefore, in short, we can conclude that the universe, in one form or another, just is, or was. there could not have been nothing because you must have something to have nothing.
Or you could research string theory, I hear they have a great understanding...

I believe that supermassive black holes are the core of each galaxy. The space between galaxies is dark matter.
I think it's always been here. The big bang theory doesen't make any sense.

Since most scientist still hold to the big bang theory, even though they use the law of conservation of angular momentum to prove it did not happen, your "guess" is as good as any-ones. There is really only one option left, but it is unimaginable to most.
