I think the question should be "why we should'nt kill seals" is more like "why are we killing seals?" Some seals are one of the main life supports of some eskimo and other indian tribs. they use almost every part of the animal to be able to exsist on from meat to eat, bone for weapons and tools and hides for protection from the elements of very harsh winters. The main reason why we should'nt kill seals would be for comercial use like furs for fasion and fats for lighting and fuel when we have the advanced techology to make sinthetic materials that actually work better than the animal by-products. Putting an animal like the baby fur seal into extenction by clubbing them in the head, (not killing them right away) but to keep them on the ice untill after the salutter of the whole colony then go back and finishing them off with another blow or two to the head of the already bleeding and suffering baby seal for no other reason other than putting seal fur into a glove or around someone's neck to, in they're oppinion, make them look good, is a crulity of severe animal abuse that us civilized humans can live without! Here is your PERSUASIVE ANSWER in a question form:....Could you walk up to a baby snow white seal with big black eye's looking at you while rearing back with a club and repeatingly smashing that harless and defencless little animals head while it's screaming in pain into a bloody mess with grey matter flung about the blood soaked snow just for it's pelt? I hope I didn't offend anyone by my thoughts on this issue but this person did, insist on "PERSUASIVE" and I DO sincerly apploigize to anyone if I did.

Can anyone give a persuasive reason why we shouldn't kill other people? No. It's the same reason not to kill any living thing: because humans don't need to eat seals, don't need anything from seals at all, and they deserve to live without human intervention.

Seals are capable of feeling the same pain as we are. Seal slaughter is not a quick death. The animal is clubbed multiple time over the head with a bat-like tool that has a nail coming out of it.

As the seals try to escape, the "hunter" follows them, hitting them over, and over until they stop moving. Then, the skin is collected. Unfortunately, it is not uncommon for the seals - some young pups - to be skinned alive.

Would we do this to a person? What about a dog? What about any animal that is capable of felling the same pain we would feel, if it happened to us?

Now, we are not talking about doing this to feed hungry people, or for any other reason than to collect their fur for a coat or hat or handbag. This is a completely unnecessary kill. It is brutal is bloody.

These are creatures that, like you and me, are the centers of their own lives. They seek the same things we seek - to eat, to be free from pain and to simply live our lives.
