Republicans and talk show radio hosts have been warning of what will happen if Pelois becomes Speaker of the House. Well, out of her own mouth she has justified their fears.

"Raise the minimum wage to $7.25 an hour, maybe in one step."

"Bush-era tax cuts would have to be rolled back for those above "a certain level."

"We must share the benefits of our wealth" beyond the privileged few, she added."

More bigger government, higher cost of living, hurt economic growth. Yeh, that sounds like a great idea. She'll probably increase the welfare rolls too.

This is what happens when liberals get into power. They raise taxes, increase spending, destroy the economy with policies like increasing the minimum wage.

How ironic is the liberal movement, which is so "pro-choice" on abortion, yet they do not want us to choose where we educate our kids, how we spend our money, and where our retirement money goes.

Most states already have a minimum wage higher than the federal $5.15. Some have it higher than the $7.25 she is proposing.

Very few people benefited from the tax cuts. Any significant increases in spending have been the more the result of people refinancing their homes than these modest tax cuts.

If sharing the wealth means making sure that every child has access to health care then I'm all for it. The same goes for their parents.

The rest of your posting is just rhetorical speculation.

Well, I am a republican. But I agree with her, that the minimum wage needs to be increased. Maybe have two different min. wages. One for students and one for workers.
And I think the rich need to be tax more. Heck they can dictate the price of their own wages. Vote themselves pay raises like in congress. Oil companies naming their gas prices, based on scare tactics. I know market analysis plays a part too but, when you jack up the price 30 percent in a week--when the market price goes up 10 then you are extorting the people.
And don't get me started on folks like at Enron etc.
Now, I'm definitely not a fan of Pelosi, but unfortunately, current events will sway the vote to the democrats. Thanks Foley.
Anyway, I don't think it really matters who the Majority Leaders are or speakers or any other individual in congress.

Nobody has sunk the USA economically more than Dictator Dumbya. The mountainous national debt is something that happened during the Dumbya tenure, and we have NOTHING to show for it. The Dumbya cronies have hauled it away to THEIR bank, at least that part that wasn't entirely just wasted. Down with Dictator Dumbya!!!

Yes. Pelosa has a 33/36 probability of being the next Speaker of the House.

Right. Because everyone knows that on Bush's watch, $11,000 per year is all you need to support a family, the gap between rich and poor is getting narrower, the budget is balanced, the national debt is shrinking, and the federal bureaucracy hasn't grown at all.

Oh, you mean all those are NOT TRUE?

Then MAYBE WE NEED A CHANGE!!!

Hey even better let's just take AWAY the minimum wage, and go back to the 3 dollars an hour?

YUP! A SKUNK JUST DON'T CHANGE IT'S STRIPES, OR IT'S SMELL FOR THAT MATTER. I can hear her now, "You working people are just making way too much money so we're going to take it away from you and give it to those who really deserve it, like the illegals streaming across the border, and those who just can't earn a living for themselves because they have to sit home and watch Oprah and The View."

Socialism/Communism. That's what is running the Democrat party.

Of course you didn't mention the reasonable things she said.

And even the negative things you said weren't all that bad taken in context.

Of course, we'll see what her comments really mean.
