so what do fellow parents do when their kids get sand in their pants or underwear/swimwear while at the beach, sandbox, park, etc?

I wait until we're home unless it's at the beach, then I take them to the outdoor shower spout to wash off.

I've seen other moms actually put their hands down their kids stuff and get it out that way. I could never see myself doing that, though i guess it gets the job done.

Wash them off. If they are young enough just let them get naked and rinse them off. Otherwise, they can use their own hand to get the sand out.

I also put a towel in the back seat for them to sit on until they get home because they're bound to get more sand on themself between the shower and the car.

There is nothing you can do but deal with it. I live on a beach, and my house is fully of sand. You get use to it, and it will actually grow on you.

But rinsing off at the house is the best bet. Or let it dry and whipe it off with a towel.

Wow! That's sounds so odd to actually put your hands in a kids pants! I send my duaghter in the water to '"empty herself out" or else wait till we get to a restroom or someplace more private. Man I can't imagine the embarrasment that poor kid has to go through!

If you change their clothes at the beach, then just towel them off when you're switching clothes, otherwise wait until you get home and put them in the tub. Is it really that big a deal??????

I don't have kids so I don't know.

My guess would be that if the kids were really little it wouldn't matter if you just reached there to get the sand out.

Closer to puberty , you shouldn't especially a kid of the opposite gender.

When I was a kid, I just went back in the water & shook it out myself... I think u should avoid sticking ur hands down ur kids pants!!

I would walk into the water with my child and have them try to get it out unless the water is clear then I'd wait till we got home...
