i know this could be debated for years, but give me one name and why. mine? without hesitation...herschel walker, and not just because i'm a huge dawgs fan, but because he was a man amongst boys in college. totally unstoppable, teams put 9 and 10 men in the box and #34 still ran for 150-200 yards repeatedly. had he stayed his senior year, he probably would've earned a 2nd heisman. best ever.

Barry Sanders, obviously.

In his junior (and last) year at Oklahoma State...
2,850 rushing yards
44 touchdowns

Both of those are records to this day. No one has come close.

Herschel walker had an unbelievable career, but my vote is for Bo Jackson, from Auburn.

It is a shame that Herschel's NFL career wasn't nearly as impressive as his college years. Unfortunately, because of his ability, he became a target in the pro game. Not saying I don't like Herschel, but I got to see the tail end of his professional career, and even at the end of it, he was still considered dangerous enough to always be double and triple teamed wherever he went.

Herschel Walker or Bo Jackson. Herschel had the numbers, but Bo had the moves, Espically when Frank Thomas (the big hurt) was the lead blocker as the Full Back.

I would have to agree with you.... Walker was the best, even if I am a Buckeyes fan. Awards aren't everything, but Archie comes in a close second.

John Capaletti - Penn State. Not well known across the U.S., but he developed his natural abilities as a running back far beyond many who had "big" names in college and pro football.
