Try the BT Homehub. Saw it advertised on tv and decided to try it and it is the most efficient router i've ever used.

you do not need a router for a single computer to connect on your bt broadband you just need a broadband modem (normally supplied by BT. If you are connecting more than one computer then you do need a router. Makes no odds if they are wired or wi-fi.

Make sure it's am ADSL modem/router - I got one with a wireless dongle - but mine can be wired to a LAN card - but I didn't have a network card! I had a sale from Maplin today and they have them. There is a DSL one on the sale leaflet - but that's no good on a BT line. I had a sitecom one in their sale and it needed a firmware update - if you get the same problem - take it back!
