He's alive and well in the current DC Universe. For a while, Superman kept Krypto in the Arctic Fortress of Solitude. I think in the next month or so, one of the Superman comic books is supposed to have a story about Krypto.

he is on the CW early saturday mornings in a kids cartoon ( no comics that i know of)
