UK, I'm the patriotic, English born and bred sort. That green and pleasant land that is England is my home and always will be.
Also, it doesn't rain half as much as it is made out to here, usually, especially in the south east where I live, although I gather some northern parts consider is a dry winter if they go two whole days without rain.
Actually, we have good crime rates in comparison to most countries, especially a certain country where guns are legal that I will not mention (do I have to?). Legalising guns = more gun crime. I despair how the US cannot realise such simple logic.
Anyway, 4th largest economy in the world, strongest currency, NHS, 2 of the worlds 3 best universities, etc. Our country has a lot going for it.

Hi, don't believe everything you watch on telly, I lived in the States for ten years, it was great, have you ever been? I'm guessing no, because if you had you would realise what complete nonsense you are spouting, the US is a huge country and the things you mentioned are only a tiny part of it, I lived in Boston and never saw a hurricane, a killer insect or croc, I did however have a fantastic time. Of course its not perfect then neither is the UK.

It depends on where you are living in those places.
I've lived in both countries, more specifically, London and New York City. The USA is very diverse - you can't compare NYC to Alabama or Mississippi. Two completely different worlds. NYC does not have any killer crocs or major earthquakes. As far as murders, or crimes in general, the rate is low, per capita, among large cities.
If I had to choose between NYC and London, I'd have to pick NYC. It better suits my lifestyle.

I am British but would jump at the chance to live / work in the US.
The US have a much more simple way of life. Laid back if you take like to like locations into consideration.
In General things cost less and they look out for there own country. The UK spends too much time trying to please everyone.
the likes of the US and Europe.
Us with the war on terror and Europe with the £3Billion Rebate (now going to the dogs)
The UK is going too PC, like since when is it offensive to fly the Saints flag (white background / Red Cross) because it may offend people already living here.
We are not allowed to call ourselvies English, Scottish etc we have to be refered to as "British"
Its turning into a nightmare.
Gun crime is at a all time high (even though Guns were banned the best part of 10yrs ago)
Please someone tell me what is great about great britian???

I went through a phase a couple of year ago..hating the UK - for its Cold weather and dreary outlook - so I moved the family out to Spain.. we lasted just over a year.. its alright 2 weeks on holiday but - once you try and live there the problems you encounter like the red tape with property dealings and crooked council officials not to mention the bent police & legal people...The UK is total Heaven on Earth - but with the Rain.. We returned to the Most Dangerous place in Britian (seemingly) Glasgow.. But - when you see the outrageous goings on in the USA ...I think Glasgow is one big leafy suberb compared to there..

I live in NY all of my life and I have never experienced a bad earthquake, tornado, hurricane, killer insects, killer crocodiles or murders first hand.

The US has all the things you mentioned because it's a vast huge land mass with varied climates and geography. You have to pin down the region a bit to get any kind of realistic comparison. I live in New England, and other than a bit of a Nor'Easter from time to time, we don't experience any of the things you mentioned. I've also lived in Virginia in the Blue Ridge Mountains, and that area was absolutely spectacular with brief, mild winters, beautiful long summers and crisp vibrant springs and falls with lots of sunshine and only moderate rainfall. No earthquakes, no crocodiles, no hurricanes, no killer bees. Our unemployment rate is quite small compared to most of the world, we have quality health care, good education for those who care to access it, and in most areas, the crime rate is quite minimal (check out the stats for the rest of the world on-line and you'll see the US actually rates as one of the most crime-free industrialized nations). The cost of living is lower than the rest of the world's as well. All in all, I think there's so much to choose from in the US, you can experience pretty much any climate, any geography, any ethnic presence, whatever you want, all in one country.

I love the USA! Have visited both the east and west coast and would love to live there. California was great! I liked the laid back attitude and friendliness of the people there. I know visiting somewhere on holiday and living there permanently is a different scenario but I would happily move there!

We do not get get most of what you have listed here.
Murders take place yes, but we do not see earthquakes, tornados, hurricans, killer insects, killer crocs. We have storms sometime, but very little loss of life through them.
