they are hurt and sad, but they are not looking for revenge; 'anger and revenge is not the amish way.'

they are "urging forgiveness of the killer and quietly accepting what comes their way as God's will...they don't balance the hurt with hate." (Times Tribune)

what do you think of this? is this an attitude (no hate with hurt) that should be more prevalent (in other emotional news and world issues etc.)? or not?

It's a hard attitude to have, to be so accepting. They're wonderful, forgiving people. They even invited the shooter's family to the funerals so that the shooter's family could grieve. That's just how they are, and it's a difficult move for someone outside their community to understand how they could be so forgiving. I really admire them for that.

I've found a new respect for these people .. although I do not agree with some of their beliefs ..

While most people around the world were outraged at what happend .. The Amish heeded what the bible says about forgiveness.

It brought a tear to my eye to hear their spokesman say that they have forgiven the gunman and want to COMFORT his familly.

wow!

Ofcourse!

It would take great strength for anyone to react the way the Amish did!

I only wish I had as much faith as they do. I admire them so much. It has to make it a little easier in dealing with the loss of a loved one. I hope they can be an inspiration for many people in the world. I know they are for me and I am going to try to think that way, maybe there wouldn't be as much hate in this world if more people tried.

They come the closest to being Christian people I have ever seen. I know I couldn't take it. I hope the World sees how strong and caring these people are.
The one who caused all of this killed himself .
I feel sorry for his wife and children they are this mans victims also, if he had only went for some mental help maybe not all would have been lost.

I was amazed by this too. It is very admirable and what God would want us to do. Don't see too much of this behavior. They have to be very strong in their faith.
