For all your free software needs go to Download.com
or if you real want a good programme go to Limewire and get a programme that some one wishes to share but becareful as a lot of Zip and Rar files from Limewire contain alcan worms and other nasties.
look for VSO blind write, DVD to DVD, Copy to DVD and easy DVD Creator or DVD shink Nero seems to conflict too much with other programmes and all the above work fine side by side on a PC.

I agree, DVD Shrink is the best program for it. Make sure you do a deep-analysis though to ensure perfect quality. It does compress the files, but anything above around 55-60% and you won't notice the compression on a TV screen.

for movie backups, DVD Decrypter or DVDFab working with DVDShrink. if you have windows XP, you can just burn info directly to disk as long as you don't need any encryption
