You want internet phone too, so you can get rid of the regular phone service. Say goodby to "Ma Bell".
Yes, you can use your internet phone while using the internet.
One thought... Your old phone system almost always worked through storms and power interruptions. You can get a UPS (Uninterruptable Power Supply) for under $50, so that your internet phone does go DEAD.

I have TalkTalk. But with 100,000 people a month signing up - you may have to wait a bit. It costs £20.99 for International calls and broadband. Or £19.99 a month for UK calls and broadband. It won't reach 8 Mbs until the new equipment is in the BT exchanges next year - but neither will BTs. The VOIP phone is OK. But with Talk 3 International you get free calls to all EU, US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand anyway. The limit is 40 Gb a month and you get 15 mb of web space. take a look at my website and I have a TalkTalk page with more info.

BT braodband isn't really the best option, hubs keep going offline, the internet phone is a normal phone plugged into your hub, and has a separate number. Try cable if you can get it, much better and reliable

It is still possible to use your normal phone whilst on broadband but the "internet phone" it is giving to you is like a phone which you call people with via the internet..it is far cheeper than using the normal phone. hope this helps!

You will be able to use your landline whilst connected to broadband.
The internet phone may be a bonus but I don't use mine.
Calls are cheap anyway and the internet phones can give poor quality.
Your download speed might not make it to 8meg.
It all depends.... but you should get at least half of that speed and maybe more.

I currently have BT which has been great, it slows at peak times but has never gone down.
Not exactly answering, but DO NOT get Tiscali - I had unbelievable amount of problems with them. I could go into a massive rant about how cr*p they are but I am going to bed....just don't ever get Tiscali!
Best wishes.
