I got my chin professionally waxed yesterday afternoon. Last night, part of my chin just looked a little bit abraded. Today, however, it looks much worse. It hasn't spread... it just looks like I fell on some concrete and scraped my chin! What happened? And what can I do about it?

I've had this same woman wax my chin several times in the past and this has never happened before.

Many things could have happened. First the wax could have been way too hot. Second, the person doing the wax may have applied the wax in the wrong direction causing the hair to be ripped out in a way to pull more of the top layer of skin off. That is ultimately what has happened, the top layer of skin was not the only layer that was ripped away. The wax should only be applied to one area one time only. If the person applied it more that once then you need to get some dry skin cream on it and let it heal.

Maybe you were slightly burned by the wax? I would call the salon or the person that did the waxing and explain what you have. I would assume that she has had training in her field and would probably be able to assist you.

it sounds like the wax might have taken some skin with it. i'm sure it's a freak occurance and shouldnt happen again. i would keep it clean and put some anti-biotic cream on it. I hope it heals well!
