I'm in the UK. I plug my DVB stick in to my USB port - click timeshift - then wait for the movie to start and if I miss the beginning use timeshift to go back to the start and then simply click record and it records the movie. Then you can burn it to a DVD. To do MP3 I plug my MP3 recorder in to the din sockets on a DVB - again get the start of a music video with timeshift - then press play on the DVB and record on the MP3 recorder - and it records the audio. Watch you file sizes though if you're putting them on DVD - Roxio will burn to multiply DVD - but usually you want a movie on one. The slide shows with music are good too. get Roxio easy media creator 9. Get a DVB stick from Maplin - and plug it in to a mast aerial to tune it. But they will work on the tiny aerial if tuned right. I watch late night movies in bed.

You will need to purchase a TV capture card for your computer (They start at about $100). Install the card, and run attach it to a TV (similar to hooking a VCR or DVD player to your TV). Check the specifications for the card to be sure your computer is modern enough to use one.
Will come with software that allows you to record from the TV (VCR or DVD player) to your computer. You will need to have LOTS of space on your hard drive as the video files are HUGE.

You can buy a pci tv card or you can also buy usb tv & capture device.
I suggest to buy pinnacle there devices are very good they usually come with remote control.
I had a pinnacle pci card in my old computer years ago when a pentium 200hz was the fastest you could get, and i could record tv then.
You should be able to get what you need for around 30 to 40 pounds.

most of the time, this is quite undemanding to get movies, television shows onto your iPhone for viewing at a handy time -- you may basically use DVD Ripper to acquire it (for a suitable fee). That software facilitates you replace DVD movie to iPhone format after so which you may use iTunes to flow to iPhone.
