at first, he didnot have the funds, but now he does. why wont he try to get a phone. I am not happy hearing from him only when he calls me at work.

If he really wanted a home phone he would get one.
Perhaps you should pay a surprise visit to his home and see if there is a reason he doesn't want you calling him at home.
