Depending on what you wish to do, it is possible. Now there are a few ways to do this.

If you already have the Movies recorded in your Laptop and if you have a USB output on your Camcorder, then you can connect the Camcorder to the Laptop using this USB Port and a specific kind of USB Cable (one end smaller then the other).

If you plan to connect the Camcorder to your computer and use it to record ' Live Video ' then you may need to use Video Recoding Software on your Laptop.

If you already have the Movies recorded in your Laptop then you have to make sure that you have recorded them on a Memory Card or something similar. Now if you have the movies on some kind of Tape media then you will have to use a Video Cassette Player with an Audio / Video Output or something similar (using related Cables) to send the Files from the Camcorder to the Laptop.

SOME camcorders come w/ the necessary cable to do that but if it didnt, u will most likely need a video capture card installed on ur laptop.

you most likly can not hook it up to a laptop. you have to get a firewire card. you can play the stuff through the S-video port but you have to have a card which goes into the motherboard and it will work for desktops only. you can look online foir a USB firewire card.
