notme, Americans are in debt because they have no discipline with their cc's, dont try to blame the govt for it.
scotty, I know how to find information. in fact, your whole discription looks rather childish. you reference to high school makes you look like a hippy college student from berkeley.
and for that guy who said the deficit is 30 trillion dollars, you have no business in this forum if you believe that.

Buddy, I got news for you. Both the liberals and conservatives--and I don't mean Democrats and Republicans--are selling you down the river. Being liberal or conservative has nothing to do with any political party. Liberalism and conservatism are philosophies not political parties. And neither of these philosophies are advantageous to middle-class America. Both will rob the middle class blind.
Regardless of what you are reading about the economy, the present economy is only benefitting big business, which is racking in the bucks off the backs of cheap labor overseas. Of course their bottom line is improving. They are getting goods made cheaper and selling it to you for the same price as before, when American labor produced it. Meanwhile domestic companies like Ford and GM, who can't export their labor overseas, are going broke because they can't compete with companies that have cheap overseas labor.
If you can't see how that is harming the middle class, let me spell it out for you.
Millions of middle class wage earners lost their jobs to overseas labor. Most of these people have replaced those jobs with other jobs that pay less.
Middle class consumers are buying foreign made products.
Both situations are taking money away from the middle-class. In a healthy economy money must flow smoothly in and out of the consuming public. In the present case, it only flows out.
All the profits from production are flowing to big business and foreign labor, not middle-class America.
The jobs growth in America has been limited to the service industries. As the wealthy get richer, they are making more jobs for sure: maids, butlers, waiters, pool cleaners, landscapers, and what have you. All jobs that cater to the wealthy. Within a few years, a college degree will do the average smuck no good at all, because all college level jobs will be shipped out of the country. The only advantage to having a college degree will be that you will be able to talk to your boss in perfect english while mowing his lawn.
And you, whether you consider yourself a liberal or conservative, are sitting back with blinders on letting them stick it to you. Liberals feel wonderful that they have a chance to spread America's wealth to poorer countries. Conservatives feel wonderful that they can make use of cheaper labor. The so-called free trade acts are a slam from both sides. It's a one-two punch. Count to ten, America's knocked out.

Let's see... Let's disect this question...
"the US economy is the best its been in 40 years"
How can you say that the US economy is good when we now have a $30 Trillion deficit?
"the twin deficits decreasing and are now below forecasts"
We now owe China, and other communist countries billions upon billions of dollars and will not be able to pay them back for many generations to come.
"and unemployment at 4.6%"
This statistic only accounts for the people actually receiving an unemployment check, but fails to count in all of those who exhausted their Unemployment and now live off of either savings or by collect cans and bottles, and live on the streets or in their cars with their families.
"what will the democrats use to lie?"
It wasn't a Democrat that lied to Congress in order to murder thousands and thousands of innocent Iraqi civilians. Why don't we support our troops instead of sending them to Iraq to be massacred over nothing but a pack of Republican lies?
"they mention "economic reform" as if theres some kind of crisis"
Since most of the Americans who work full time jobs only make enough money to pay the super-high rents we now have to pay or enough to buy groceries, but not both, I'd say that the real Americans are in some kind of economical crisis.
"what do they want to do?"
Impeach ! ! ! Impeach ! ! ! Impeach ! ! !
"is their idea of an economic crisis low taxes and no welfare for lazy people?"
No, our idea of an economic crisis is low taxes only for the greedy top 1% of wage earners and huge corporations, and bleeding the working class and underpriveledged with their "stealing from the poor and giving to the rich" tactics.
Now, don't you feel real special?

ish!! Go back to high school there's an education there waiting for you. Ever heard the expression that "Figures don't lie, but liars can figure"? Case in point. Unemployment statistics are based on current collectors of Unemployment Insurance Funds--when you run out of benefits you no longer are counted as part of that figure. Why would you take their word for it 100% and whole heartedly? Do you really think that your Government wouldn't lie to you? Please don't be offended by the Democratic party or anyone else that bursts your bubble when one of your "truths" is found out to be an absolute lie. That kinda narrow mindedness leads you be a follower. Finding out facts is a difficult task if you don't know where to look. Let me give you a hint--find alternative news sources and recognize what a political spinning pundit does for a living. By the way, the ability to cherry-pick irrelevant issues from the past is no way to justify your political beliefs.

You are so right. It's not that the economy is bad, it is our penchant for living beyond our means that makes it seem that way. Middle Class America is being driven into poverty by consumer debt. Rather than save up for a purchase and pay cash - so many Americans charge expensive items and end up paying more than double the actual purchase price so they can have it NOW. Instant gratification is our problem not the Republican party.

Unemployment isn't 4.6% where I live. 2 billion dollars a week for the war in Iraq is NOT decreasing the deficit. Voodoo economics didn't work for Reagan, and it won't work for Bush. That is of course, if people get the WHOLE picture, and not just some Foxnews soundbites.

It's all because of the oil prices being driven down thanks to Halliburton. If you understand the market, you will understand that this will be something quick. The Dow Jones has already started showing the red arrows. It was all red arrows today, in fact. No greens.
And when the middle-class suffers, more people are forced to get jobs. That is what is happening. It's common sense.

Yes you are correct. Democrats are grasping for something! In fact if this whole Foley thing should have been reported to police. Instead the Democrats take it ot the press to humiliate the Republican party. Now who do you feel safest running the country?
