I had a discharge before I started my period and I have continued to have it, is this normal?

depends on the discharge....most women have some amount of discharge on a daily basis...but usually it is thin, clear or light wite and does not smell. If you are having discharge that is dark or green in color, smells bad (usually like dead fish) you could have BV (bacterial vaginosis) which is treated with oral antifungal prescription medication and sometimes an ointment inserted in the vagina the same way as a tampon....if it is heavy and a lumpy or cottage cheese appearing white discharge it may be a yeast infection, but this is usually accompanied by itching and sometimes vaginal pain. Again, this can be treated by an over the counter medication, but should really be diagnosed by a doctor if it is your first. If Discharge is not normal for you, you should see a gyno to determine that you don't have an STD or the above mentioned, as left untreated any of the above can cause serious complications for your reproductive organs. yeah honey most women do expierience a discharge. BUT if it has a bad or fishy smell it could be bacterial vaginosis. Make an appointment with your gyno if you feel that its abnormal in smell or color or amounts

it is normal for women to produce additional vaginal secretions before and after menses, but a discharge is something else again. Cottage cheesy looking, probably yeast, thick creamy and yellow possible chlamydia.....just white thin and lots of it, vaginal secretions, no worries.
