That's exactly right. No child is left behind. No matter if the child does not know its name, cannot read or write, or has no clue, this child will NOT be left behind. Pass them all to the next grade, leave no child behind.

That's exactly what it means. Move 'em up and ship 'em out.

The education of children must be a team effort between parents and teachers. Were you in touch with the teacher on a regular basis? Did your child go through an entire school year before you realized he/she could not read. When you realized he/she could not read how much time did you spend helping him/her?

Did the teacher send home report cards? How did you respond? Did you attend parent/teacher conferences?

I have no way of knowing if your child had a good or bad teacher (there are lots of both) but you cannot expect the teacher or any government program to totally take over your job. Have you had your child tested to ensure he/she has the mental ability or would you prefer he/she stay behind her peers year after year.

You Mom, are the primary teacher. Get with the program and don't expect miracles from the teachers or government.

Maybe you are just looking to criticize someone else for your own shortcomings.

It's your child's future at stake and the blame game will solve nothing.

The system is flawed, like just about any. The good news is your child is still young, but you will need to fight to get him/her help. Request that you child is tested to determine if he/she can get special assistance, yes special ed but it is not what you might remember it to be. You also may want to look into programs like hooked on phonics, try ebay. There are also on-line tutoring programs available that are very reasonable. Tutorvista.com is under $100 a month unlimited. I haven't used them or met anyone who has but I did read an article about etutoring and they were mentioned. Getting the help you child needs must be your job, no one else will do it.

I totally agree, the ,no child left behind program will leave the country with a bunch of idots. how do they think these kids are going to take care of themselfs when they grow up, if you don,t believe that, ask a 8th grader to fill out a check.

This whole program is based on the Texas standard. The same standard that makes Texas the 46th best school system in America (that is out of 50, they used to be 47th, but one state got worse)

Do we really want to set the 46th school system in the nation be our standard? Why not base our standards on Number 1?

Then again America voted for Bush. Garbage in, garbage out.

No Child Left Behind is a political move made by Republicans in order to make it look like they care about education, but they do not really care about education. Leave educational policy decisions to people who are qualified to make those decisions..... TEACHERS!!!!
