Migranes can last for days. I used to get them all the time. I finially got them under control by taking blood pressure medicine.
Sounds like you need to go to the emergency room and get a shot so it will go away quickly. Make sure you take someone with you because you won't be able to drive home. Feel Better.

Yes, a migraine can last for 2 days and some of what you are describing definitely sounds like a migraine (e.g. headache, nausea, sensitivity to light). As others have said, your doctor can most certainly prescribe you something to help with the migraine. There are tons of migraine medications out there, which can work no matter when during the migraine cycle that you take them.
The part that concerns me the most about what you describe, though, is that your hearing is going in and out and that you feel off balance. Although those *could* be due to migraine, they could also have some other neurological cause. You should definitely see your physician and if s/he is very good at what s/he does, s/he will refer you for a CT scan of your brain, as is the typical procedure anytime someone complains of new onset headaches. Even though you've only had one headache like this, the symptoms are significant enough that you need to get checked out as soon as possible.

Migraines and tension headaches both can last for more than a day. I have tension headaches and have had really bad ones last for a month or more. It sounds like you may have a migraine but not knowing the details of where it originates it could be a tension.

For a migraine, yep that's possible. I'm not a doctor, but do suffer from migraines. I get the aura's (bursts of white or blue light), the nausea, and I am sound and light sensitive. I once had one that lasted for 2 weeks...I was a basket-case. In some cases if the headache lasts longer than normal, then it can be classified as a compound headache usually brought on by the overuse of pain medication. At any rate it's usually a good idea to consult your doctor. Hope this helps..

I'm not sure if it is tension or migraine, but I have had similar headaches in the past that last for more than a day, I am sensitive to light and my eyes water. Mine seem to be caused by changes in my caffeine intake. If I normally have a coffee in the morning and then one day I don't, I usually get a headache one or two days after the caffeine change. Also watch for it in medicine! Excedrin Migraine has caffeine in it. For awhile I was taking that when I had a headache, but then when I stopped taking it I would crash from the lack of caffeine; so then I took Excedrin again. It was a never-ending cycle. So, maybe that is a possible cause of your headaches. Hope you get better soon!

The longest migraine/tension I have had is about is 2 weeks. If you are not used to having headaches for long period of times I suggest that you got and be seen by your doc. There are a lot of treatments for migraines.

Sinus headaches can be as bad as migraine headaches and have the same symptoms. I used to have them all the time and missed alot of work. Thank God I had an understanding boss. But now I don't get them anymore after menopause at an early age of 39. With weather changes this time of year I would bet it is a sinus headache. Try Sine-aid or some type of sinus pain medication. (Sine-aid worked the best for me) Good Luck. I know the pain is excruciating.

I think you have a bad migraine. Yes, they can last for days. I've had them my whole life and all your symptoms seem to be migraine symptoms. If it lasts much longer though, see a physician...sometimes it could be something else and it's better to be safe - especially if this is your first one. Lay in a dark room. Also, put a cold cloth or ice pack on your head...it does seem to help. Try some Tylenol or Motrin. Asprin works well too. If that don't help see a Dr. They can give you something. Get a CT scan if it continues

Oh yeah, sounds like a migraine definitely. Poor you. I hate migraines; I get them a lot. And yeah, unfortunatley, they can last for days. Try Excederin. I have no idea why, but it never fails for my migraines. But if you really wanted to go to a doctor, there probably is something he can prescribe these days for migraines, but I think it might be for those people who suffer from them a lot. Try the Excederin first, then if that doesn't work, then go to your doc. A three or four day migraine cannot possibly be good for you.

Sounds like a bad migraine. They can last for what seems like forever. The doc would probably give you a shot. Excedrin Migraine works great for me, but mine aren't usually as bad as you describe.
Hope you feel better! Nothings worse than a headache.
