If you read the books it was always in the background that there should be this young guy older guy thing between Annikan and Obi won over who was better for Padme'. It was intended to mirror the Han solo versus Luke thing over Leia in the last trilogy. In the first trilogy the older guy gets the girl. In the second trilogy the younger guy gets the girl. If they do a third trilogy we may be talking Broke Back Jedi, who knows.

well obi wan didn't even seem interested in padme'. he barley even looked at her. even old kwi-gon jinn seemed to be hitting on her more than obi-wan. he seemed to be cradling kwi-gon oh-so-gently at the end of "phantom menace" so i don't think so.
