How do you view GOD? Is it your own belief, or is it what you learned in church?

This is very personal for me but I will share it since you seem sincere,I grew up in the church and learned about many other beliefs. But for me my view of God was completely altered when I looked at the face of my newborn for the first time. It was the most powerful epiphany I have ever had. I felt like never before, like nothing else mattered in the world because I truly felt HIS love. I knew I was blessed and I knew without a doubt that he IS real. I don't know if I answered your question but thank you anyway for letting me share.
Take care
and
Thanks.

it's my own belief, which is...there is no such thing. God is like the tooth fairy or the Easter bunny (hey, Santa Claus is real!).

If you're feeling down, or if you're having a hard time dealing with life, it's alright to think that there is a God - if you're lonely, and you need someone to talk to, might as well be a God. Maybe you need to pray that everything works out alright - okay, then maybe you need a so-called God. But, if you are secure in your life, your decisions, and you know deep down inside that everything is going to be alright - no matter what, you can make it through - then you are already a "positive thinker", and probably have a pretty good attitude about things, and you don't need a false God to make you feel better.

Most of the people I know who are deeply religious have had something bad happen to them in their lives, or they have made some bad choices, and they rely on a "God" to get them out of those situations. For example, I have a friend who was in financial difficulties, and his wife needed a car. So he and his wife sat down and "prayed about it", and "God told them it was alright to get a car". Ya know what, he's still in a financial mess, and he got ***-raped on the car deal - but, he feels good about it because "God told him it would be alright".

He doesn't have the self-confidence to tell himself it will be alright, so he's using his crutch - GOD - and that's okay, if it makes him feel better about his decision. I and everyone else know that he probably made the wrong one, or that he could have made a better one - but his justification is that God said it would be alright.

Me, I make my own decisions, because I am a man, and I'm responsible.

My wife, she is an adult woman, and she makes her own decisions - she is also responsible.

If we have a dilema, we talk to each other, work it out rationally, and we make our own, collective decision based on what we know to be fact.

We don't go to church - we enjoy our Sundays (and other days) with our children and our families. Our children are very well rounded individuals who are not mislead into believing in a God. However, they can believe what they want. Do they want to believe in God, Jesus, whomever - it's their decision. We simply provide them with the best tools we know of - we'll take them to a church if they wish - no problem. It doesn't mean we have to worship a God. It means that they are curious - and they shoudl be able to satisfy that curiosity, and move in the direction they feel they should move.

My Mother-in-Law is a devout Christian - but she doesn't push her religion on us, or look at us as "heathens" or anything like that. Again, to each his own.

So, why should it matter what anyone thinks about a God - who believes in what God or not? Who cares - if it helps you get through the day, make a tough decision easier, whatever - that's up to you.

I choose, as a free-thinking adult who knows a little something about something to make my own decisions. I don't need that crutch, and I don't waste my time fooling myself, my family, or anyone else that there is such a being - because honestly - I haven't seen evidence of such a thing.

If there is, then I'm wrong, and I may find out later. But, if there isn't, then when I die - I'm going to be dead, and there's nothing I can do, or you can do, or medicine, or some God can do to change that.

I thought God existed before I went to church. Church helped me to define the thought.

God is a concept, an essence, a presence and higher consciousness and exists on a level which is beyond human understanding.

I do not like organized religions because they divide people and do not unite people. I believe in spirituality. I believe that there is only one God and that when we are born into the world we are here to carry forth God's essence in the flesh. When we die we return to our spiritual essence and return to God.

God is a tool that some use to control or scam the masses. I figured this out on my own.
