Isn't it possible that God created the conditions that created the Big Bang which eventually created the conditions that led to life and the conditions that led to evolution? Why do they need to be exclusive? Only fundamentalist literalists need to believe that science is somehow flawed because the Bibilical account is different. The Bible (and Koran and Buddhist Sutras and lots of others) is a wonderful book, but it's not about science. If you want to understand science, you have to read science books. Google "Big Bang" or "evolution" and read what real scientists say about these things. Pick some writers who seem interesting and get a couple of their books out of the library. I can recommend Brian Greene for information about the Big Bang and other physics (written for non-scientists like me, without the math) and Stephen Jay Gould or Richard Dawkins for information about evolution.

If I hear that moronic remark "Then why are there still apes?" again I shall scream! Reptiles evolved from amphibians, there are still salamanders, frogs, toads and newts. Mammals and birds evolved from different groups of reptiles, there are still reptiles! Just because something evolves from something else, it does not necessarily condemn the previous stage in evolution to extinction.
I am half way through a book called "The God Delusion". You read that and you realise the Bible is the biggest book of fiction ever written. Human biengs were on this earth way before the "Adam and Eve" story says so.
This might interest you. :-

I know kid. Life is hard sometimes. So many people here are telling you to close your mind and accept what they say.
For my part, my major is in geology and I came top in evolutionary science for my year. Why am I telling you this? Because I had the same questions and really wanted to know the best answer humans have available at this time.
In order to gain real knowledge, one has to humbly accept ones own ignorance. Only then is the mind open to learning. The world and universe is complicated. You learn a little at a time, every day.
And to my mind learning and science is not a rejection of God. It is use of the intellect that we have received. Remember the Parable of the Three Talents? I think it would be a terrible shame to give God back your mind, untouched and still in its wrapper.

The difference between the DNA of an ape and of a human being is just one per cent. That says enough. God can easily have created the earth and still have nature evolve by itself. Throw in a big bang an the picture is complete with all ingredients added. Enough monkeys to go round, look around you and see the facial expressions of people in traffic jams, stuck in their cars, looking through the glass, monkeys indeed. Behind their computers, in line in the supermarkets..apes.

We didn't evolve from apes, apes and humans had a common ancestor a long time ago from which we both evolved. We each went our own seperate ways, evolving in ways which insured our survival in different ways in the environments we lived in.
As for the big bang, there is considerable evidence that it is indeed how our universe began.
The difference between "believing" in what the religious people tell you, and the two scientific theories you mentioned, is that there is no "belief" required to know if the scientific theories are correct or not. You can educate yourself, read up on the evidence and proofs (and yes, problems) with those ideas, and make up your mind using reason and logic with regard to their truthfulness. With the religious stories, you can do no such thing -- there's no proof to look at, no evidence to examine, no logical progression of study and experiments that can lead you to a rational conclusion. Either you believe what some guys a few thousand years ago (who knew nothing of science or of how the world worked, and who are wrong about lots of things science has proven that they refer to in the bible), or you look at the evidence that's available and decide for yourself. Which do you think will give you the best information available to make your decision? :)

Above all read and learn and make decisions for yourself. You have the internet to help you. Read what the bible actually is ...... a collection of writings written by many different humans over a period of several hundred years. Not a complete book handed down by god. We did not evolve from apes but like it or not ( I like it ) we are animals and we evolved from a common ancestor.

Apes are , generally, nice, peaceful, fun loving, familly people. Chimps are maybe a bit on the stressy side, but on the whole I'd really like to think that the genetic links were even closer.

Before you were an ape you were a worm and before that a microbe. Why, does it hurt your vanity?
You can believe in God if you like, after all some primitive, children sacrificing, savages said they saw him and got some stones from him, 5000 years ago. I
personally believe Venus is made of green cheese. Can you prove it is not?

Evolution is like winning the lottery. The odds of success are astronomical. For every winner there are millions of losers.
Where are the evolutionary losers? None have been found. All animals are fully developed. All fossil records show complete animals. There is no missing link.
It is more logical to believe in creation than evolution. Science does not support evolution at any level. There are no facts only theory.
Our creation could be similar to the very end of the movie Men In Black, who knows?

First, you have it wrong. Evolution says that both man and other apes evolved separately from a common ancestor.
If you are really interested in finding the answers to these questions, get off YAHOO Q&A and begin studying Biology, and Cosmology and Geology. Don't blindly follow what others say. Find out for yourself.
