I know i have to go to the doctor. The last time I went to check about my period being so irregular I was 17. I was put on birth control to regualate it. I hated it cause I would always forget so i quit taking them. Now, 8 years later it's gotten worse. What do i do? I am scared to get checked cause I have gone up 8 months without being on my period. And NO i am not pregnant. I have tried to get pregant before but never did. maybe my irregularity has something to do with it?....

dont be scared but go to the doctor. you probably have polycystic ovarian syndrome-search the term for more info. it can cause irregular periods, infertility, diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, high cholesterol...the list goes on but includes uterine cancer. this is why you are not getting pregnant. these women are placed on birth control pills to regulate the cycle and prevent cancer but it does not cure the underlying hormonal problem. stop the pill and your periods are again irregular. so, go to the doctor now and find out what health problems you may be dealing with at this point in time. if you blow this off for another several years you may end up with cancer that could have been prevented. then you could end up with a hysterectomy and never have children. make an appt asap, be sure they check you for diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol also. read up on it before you go so you are a bit educated. i would recommend you see a gynecologist as many family practiitioners do not have sufficient experience with this complicated disorder.

You are the same way I was. I went a whole year without my period. My doctor said that is just how some women are. She tried to put me on birth control pills but I wouldn't take them due to the many side effects. I thought I could not get pregnant, and now I am a mother to an 8 month old baby girl. I am now taking birth control and it has regulated my period. I am on the Nuva Ring. It is great!!! I put it in for 3 weeks and then take it out for one and during that time I get a period. Then after that one week is up I put a new one in for another 3 weeks. Don't be afraid just go to your doctor and talk about the best options for you!!!
Good luck!!

yea lots of women got irregular cycles..im one of them but i never went eight months without a period. i think thats a long time so yea goin to the doctor is a brilliant idea for your own good. you have to keep a healthy diet cause irregular periods might be comin from unbalanced hormones (that was my case and its very common in other girls) hope it nothin too serious and dont worry to much till you go check it out. i know how bad you might feel. GOODLUCK

I was irregular up until I had my second baby, then finally it fixed itself and now I'm like clockwork. I'd go to the doc for the part about not having a period. Been there, done that, a couple of times. But that's what they did for me--they gave me meds to make me bleed then put me on the pill.

good luck.

How are your eating habits? You know that starving yourself- or being underweight, or being bulimic can make your period go away. Also rapid weight gain can. So, maybe this isn't you, but I thought I would throw it out there.

More women have irregular cycles than regular, unless they are on the pill
