No... with your mother in law, u better watch ur back.....obviously she will ALWAYS choose her boys over you, the "stranger".

also, i do think that family blood is thicker than water, but hey, you MARRIED into the family. u are now part of thier blood thru symbolic marriage. therefore, she should look for what is the Best, Positive, Healthiest thing in the family. that means the brother should have respected you , and his brother..but he didn't. if i were u, i'd stay away from the mother and the brother.

good luck. i'm glad that ur husband believed u...at least i hope he did. he should always back u up, and u should always back him up... as well as try to correct each other when u see something wrong.

Your mother-in-law is not exactly a neutral person in all of this.

Your mother-in-law has a conflict of interest when it comes to saying and doing what's best for your family because the guy who made a pass at you is her son. As a mother, she naturally will try to do what's best for him, even if he is wrong.

Your mother-in-law gave a bad advice because she is biased through no fault of her own. But your husband shouldn't have put her in a situation where she has to takes sides in a dispute between her adult sons.

If the two guys where underage children, then it would have been appropriate for them to go to their mother. But as adults, they are responsible for their own behavior. And they shouldn't be going to their mother with their problems.

Well it depends...perception is reality. If you think he made a pass - unless it was blatant maybe you took it the wrong way and now you have caused a rift in the family. If it was indeed a pass without a doubt -and it also depends if its your husband's brother or your sister's husband? Sister's husband I would tell my sister if it happened again. Husband's brother...I probably would not have said anything and made it very clear to the brother in law that his behavior is unacceptable and if it happens again you are going to tell you husband.

it truly is what i think of is going by using your head..."If I instructed my husband, it may reason a rift between them making it uncomfortable for each guy or woman worried"...."on the different hand if i do no longer say something, he will think of i'm trustworthy recreation". If i replaced into on your place, i could show some braveness, dignity and tact. i could get him on his very own and say this to him.." you already know what befell the different day replaced into uncalled for. I even have not instructed your brother what befell because of the fact i've got self belief you comprehend what you probably did replaced into incorrect and disrespectful. determine it won't ensue back." Do it jointly as its nonetheless clean so as that what you're saying sounds stronger and be sure you're saying it an assertive way. solid success

Yes, it was good advice, I think if it just happened once I would just make sure to stay away from the dude, if more than that than I would tell my husband, because they are going to be around each other a lot.
