No, it shouldn't. As long as you always keep in mind, and respect the fact that you come from two different cultures.

I imagine that the key would be to educate each other well on each others cultures.

It's a beautiful thing.

No, it's not difficult - but only if you love one another and respect each other's culture. Western Europe and US cultures are fairly similar, Eastern Europe and US cultures are really very different. Go slowly, find the cultural differences and discuss them. Decide how the two want to live, then live your mutual life. Don't interfere with the other's culture, instead understand it. What you can't understand tell them about and reach some agreement.

A case in point. I am American, 69 years old. My wife is Russian, 44 years old. I'm retired and when we finally decided we were made for each other, I moved to Russia and have lived there for 15 months. I'm back in US now doing some work, will go back next month. Can't wait to be with her again. My biggest problem in the culture difference was about children .... Russian women do everything for their children always, even after they are old and gray. They do things without consideration for their mate even. That took some getting used to. But we discussed it and have resolved the "problem" our own way & it works. We're both very happy.

If you are flexible and have love, there's nothing you can't do.

And how! I'm "hanging out with" this girl that was born in Sri Lanka and we like each other but I always get the feeling like it's just never gonna happen or won't be allowed to happen. Her parents seem to like me but in what respect? I wonder if she knows she is the most natually, no make-up needed, devastatingly beautiful woman ever. Oh - and she's real nice, too.

I don't think so, especially now a days where the internet has broken all possible barriers all over the world for people to express themselves and to be heard.
