Life is full of risks, some leading to rewards while others leading to dead ends. However, if you're afraid to take risks then you'll never reap the rewards that can come with it, marriage included. Yes, there seems to be a rise in divorce however don't let that be your guide or your outlook on marriage because there are quite of few of us out there that are happily married. Yes, it does take hard work just like anything else in life but if you meet the right one, you'll make it work. Put the insecurities behind you and your best foot forward meaning your confidence, self -esteem, faith, and common sense and let your heart and soul be your guide. You'll never know unless you try. Good luck and I hope this helps!!!=)

You can't stress about something that hasn't even happened. You need to let go of the " what if's ", other wise you will drive yourself nuts. Any relationship can be hard. If you are not ready to get married now then don't. Only you will know when it's the right time. I got married when I was 18 we have been married now for 8 years, it has to do with trusting your spouse, with everything. If you can't do that with someone then you aren't ready, don't rush. It will happen when it happens. Mr. Right will come when you are ready. My husband was my best friend first...then it just happened. It does and can work but you just have to be willing and able to deal with whatever you are handed. Good luck out there.

I dont think you are scared really of all these things. I think you are just scared of taking a risk and the fear of the unknown. You cannot compare your previous encounters to those of present day. There is no future in the past...If you are ready to commit yourself to your man, be there for him when things are good and be there for him in times of grief and sorrow, and you truly love him then attaching the title of marriage shouldnt stand in your way. Its only a title and a ring, nothing more. The promises you make to each other are from the heart and not measured by the ring or certificate. How will you ever know if things are going to work as a couple if you are doubting the outcomes from the beginning? You cannot go into a situation nor progress in life if you are doubting yourself, yor mate and your trust and love for one another. Why think about things that may not even happen? and stress yourself out. Live for the day! Do whats in your heart.

It's ok. A lot of people feel this way. They are scared to get marry or scared of commitment. Seriously, if you are afraid of it then don't get marry. Talk to your other half about the situation how you feel. Maybe that will makes you feel better. Love is just like a risk. Never know.. is like an investment.. You but ur time and effort into it hoping it will be better in the future. Right right? But make sure are you afraid of getting marry is because you see so many people having divorice or is your other half don't give you enough confidence in this relationship. Have to get that straight ok? Good luck!

There is no saying that you have to get married. Marriage is not what it used to be. You should get married for love, and if you are thinking of divorce already, that is not a good sign. Wait until you are ready or do not get married at all. P.S. You can never predict how a marriage is going to be anyway because people change everyday.

I always suggest waiting until at least 28. This way you are more mature and also had a chance to experience life a little. Whats the rush to marry anyway? Get out and meet as many people as possible and learn as much as you can. Travel and have some fun while you can cuz once you have a kid or 2, it's over for a long time. Good luck to ya!! GaryT

You just have to realize that you can't go through life being scared of everything. Car accidents are common, but I for one am not "scared" to leave the house in the morning to go to work. It's an acceptable risk to me. You HAVE to take risks to reach your goals, there's no way around that. But, first you have to figure out what your goals are. You might not want to get married... And that's fine. Don't let anyone pressure you into doing something you just don't want to do. But if you don't want to be single for the rest of your life - I'm afraid you just have to take the plunge; there are no guarantees, but do the best you can and try to make wise choices. If you're independent, self-sufficient, and have healthy self-esteem, even the "pain of divorce" will not be as bad as they make it sound. Bottom line is - nothing ventured, nothing gained.
I'm divorced twice, just got married for the third (hopefully last) time.

Nothing wrong with you not being ready to get married. You are still young I say live out your twenties and have fun. I got married at 22 with my first husband who cheated on me it really was not worth it except for the fact that we have a child together. I say date and if it gets serious get to know the man as much as you can before getting married. We never know what life has in store for us. Nobody actually knows if thier marriage is going to last we all just take chances.

If you're scared, then you aren't ready. Don't believe that it's just temporary cold feet. Why are you rushing? You could possibly be married for 60 years! That's a long time to be married to someone and if you're still having doubts, wait until those doubts subside before making that plunge. Otherwise, you'll always think that you got married too soon.
