Personally, I think they are equal performances because both had their advantages and disadvantages. Kobe has the 3-point line. But Wilt didn't have the 3-second violation back then and there weren't that much players 7 feet either. If I had to choose though, I would say Kobe's because the competition and the skill levels of the other players now are way over Wilt's time. But still, 100 points is a lot, A LOT!

Chamberlain couldn't shoot in the first place, so the 3 point rule shouldn't be a barometer to compare the two, as Kobe was definately the better shooter.

Kobe's was definately better, as was MJ's 70, because they were against much, much, much better competition. No one even knew how to block Wilt's hook shot in that day and age.

I really wish idiots would stop saying Kobe Bryant is a ball hog. Until Phil Jackson comes out and says Kobe is a ball hog, then it can't be true. Kobe is doing what it takes to carry his team to victory. I mean, who the hell else on the Lakers would you want to have the ball in their hands?

Wilt's records are unbelievable for any stage of the game. Not just the 100 points, how do you average 50 and 20 for a season? Thats ridiculous. Kobes 81 was crazy. I remember watching the news the night he got it and my jaw dropped. " he did what??!" You cant compare the 2 they wer completely different from each other. The only reason I would give it to Wilt is because he has way more accomplishments and he is a legend. At the end of his career Kobe will have it, but for now its Wilt all the way

Wilt Camberlain
100 points 25 rebounds
36-63 FG
28-32 FT
31 points in a quarter
59 in a half

Kobe Bryant
81 points 3 steals
28-46 FG
18-20 FT
28 points in a quarter
55 in a half

Honestly I would want Wilt's just look at it 100 points in a NBA game.

Definately Kobe Bryants performance. Wilt just tipped in other peoples shots or would rebound over the much shorter players. Kobe had to earn every one of his points by hitting shots or driving into a sea of taller players.

kobes 81, because it was accomplished with shots that were more difficult to make and with faster and stronger competition.
Wilt did a good job, but he was not hard for him to just stand there and drop the ball through the hoop against a bunch of white guys.

Chamberlain by far because he is truly a great player but Kobe gets paid to hog the ball.
It should be the LA Kobes because all the other players are a waste of money.

I never saw it myself, but from what I heard from other guys. It sounded like the team knew that Wilt was about to retire. So they passed him the ball all night long. Kobe is a one-man powerhouse. While Wilt got the shots handed to him. IMHO.

definitely Kobe's...Just because of the time they played in.Today's game is much more advanced, defenses are tougher.Back then like you said...who is going to guard Wilt.He would just go to the post and put up shots.Which is another reason why I think Kobe's is better.A big man has a better chance of getting a lot of points. For the simple facts that he is closer to the basket,he can get rebounds and put them up,plus he will get fouled and get free throws.

Kobe's no doubt. Tougher competition, 3 points shots, shot clocks. Its a different game today than it was than.

Chamberlain's 100 is better because he was able to make that many points and sleep with over 20,000 women in his lifetime!!!
