There's no harm in having a quiet drink without bothering anyone.

Possibilities:
1) They're shy.
2) They realise from the fact that nobody talks to them that the people in the pub aren't very approachable.
3) They don't speak English.
4) They're employed as private detectives and if they get involved in conversation it will be hard to leave in a hurry to pursue their quarry.
5) They're stone deaf and if they do speak to someone they won't be able to hear the answer.
6) They don't like the look of anyone around them.
7) They've sneaked off from the Missis for a quick drink and have a limited amount of time before she gets suspicious.
8) They're phonologists studying the sounds made by those around them and are busy making mental notes of what they hear.
9) They're thirsty and don't want to waste valuable drinking time in useless chatter.
10) They're afraid that if they start chatting to people they'll end up buying rounds of drinks.

I find that people do talk, it just might not happen straight away. I am from London, and people are always saying that Londoners are ignorant and unfriendly, but this has never been my experience. I often get friendly strangers striking up conversations with me, in pubs and elsewhere.

Some people like to drink alone, perhaps unwind in a social like atmosphere, perhaps process personal issues.
for instance, myself when I go out occasionally on my own I'll go to a pub I'll sit down with Captain Morgan and
Jack Daniels and go sailing alone but boy what a crew we generally end up with.LOL

You will be surprise that everybody think
like you when they are in pub.
question is who take initiative.Everybody waits for that the other take initiative and other is thinking the same.So nobody takes the initiative. So people never meet. Most of the time just for stupid ego or being timid, we miss to meet wonderful people.
So lets start to take initiative from now.Don't wait for others.
If its No.Its no but now you know.
But if you take initiative, you don't miss the opportunity of yes.

Be the first
good luck
&
love

if there is someone else in the bar then I talk to them it would be rude not to. if there isn't then leave cause the pub is cr*p. if you go to a pub and do not talk to people then buy a can at the offie go home watch T.V. alone and be a saddo.

I always do. I think most people don't because of some kind of fear. Fear of being thought, weird, odd, sad whatever. I think what the hell if you don't know them anyway who cares what they think, and the majority of times they think like you.." why do people not talk ........"

Try just asking an open ended question question.
