Bring your old oil to any gas station, by law they must take it free of charge, for disposal. The old oil is picked up from gas stations/garages, etc, and recycled.

You can add it to the lawn mower, but anyone who sells oil, must be able to take your old oil away. So try a local garage or auto parts store.

Take it to a Recycle Facility. Most auto parts stores thet sell it can help you out with that. Car Dealers also have to take it, well new car dealers with service departments.Last resort, call a restaraunt and ask them who picks up there old grease. its kinda the same stuff, sorta.

Local parts store... because one quart of oil can damage one million gallons of drinking water... I don't know about but I really don't want to drink oil and get the shits for a week...

A friend of mine said he puts it in those 1 gallon laundry soap bottles, then places them on the bottom of a shopping cart at the market. Then, somebody takes it home thinking they found a free bottle of soap.

Seriously, most large chain auto parts stores take it, like PEP BOYS in my area.

Recycle it... you can usually take it to any parts store or mechanic shop and they will dispose of it properly for you.. don't dump it on the ground or throw it in the trash :) It's good you are being environmentally cautious before just chucking it in the trash.

Perhaps this question is most easily answered by stating what not to do with old motor oil. Do not pour it out on your lawn, do drink it, do not feed it to your cat. Do not wash you hair with it. Do not put it into balloons and drop them from tall buildings. Other than that do what you want. Your neighbors cat and yard will do.
