Are Crowntails just as easy to take care of as regular bettas?

Do they live as long?

Are they as easy to take care of?

Are they more picky with food?

Do they need bigger tanks?

And my betta is not supposed to be a Crowntail, but his tail looks like a Crowntail's, which is spiky at the end, just not as spiky as a regular crowntail. Could he be half Crowntail? No, he doesn't have fin rot, he looks half-crowntail. Is this normal? IS HE half-crowntail? And answer my other questions please?

He is probably a cull from a crowntail breeder. They sell the culls to pet stores as regular bettas (pronounced bet-tah, not
bay-tah) so you could find some really nice looking fish that are prettier than regular bettas, but not up to par for a crowntail.

Crowntails just have a different tail shape but are the same as any other Betta. Their care and requirements are identical.

Betta genetics are pretty complicated. I don't know if crowntail is a recessive or dominant trait. It is possible he is half crowntail or has some crowntail genes .

I have a few varieties of bettas and I care for them all the same. I like to put the crowntails in larger container as they can require more room to spread out their fins. Having half-breds are more then possible, but he is probably what is refered to as a comb tail betta (a trait which can apply to any type of tail). The finnage extends into shaggy/jagged ends which makes the fin resemble a comb, hence the name.

He could be a crown-tail.
Crowntails do not require "special" care. Just a few special considerations.
1. Crowntails are more aggresive than other bettas
Crowntails will flare more readily, attack more readily, and are more aggresive when breeding. Special care must be taken when breeding crowntails because they more aggresive than the average betta.
2. They usually have more fin than other bettas
This means no rough surfaces. They are more apt to have longer fins that most other bettas so be wary of fake plants that may tear or rip their fins

My crowntail is a total spaz. He's easy to take care of, but he's psycho! All bettas should have decent sized tanks. He could be part crowntail.
