No, it doesnt have to do with harming your baby, it has to due with the hormones in your body combining with the chemicals in the dye to change the end result of your hair color from the 'normal' shade to something less desirable. I dont know if this is 100% of the time or if this is just a possibility... if your hair looks bad now anyways then I guess you should go ahead and try your luck! Winter is coming, you can start wearing hats soon. :-)

Because people like to pass around urban myths. It is perfectly fine to get your hair colored, just don't sit over someone else's hair and inhale the fumes for three hours, then it would be dangerous for you and a developing fetus, oh, and don't leave it sitting on your scalp for hours on end either, then enough would be absorbed that it MIGHT cause a problem. I'm guessing you aren't planning on doing either of those things, so don't worry, enjoy your trip to the hair stylist!
For precautions read the articles listed in sources.

I think this one has gotten twisted around over the years. I had heard that one sign of early pregnancy was that your hair wouldn't hold a curl or take color. I don't think either is true now that I've had children of my own, but I've never heard that coloring your hair during pregnancy was harmful. That's just stupid.

Your skin is porous and the largest organ in the body. Any chemicals that come in contact with the body can be absorbed through the skin. Chemicals that are absorbed through your skin enter you bloodstream and then can be transferred to the fetus. While the chemicals in hair color are of minute concentration for an adult they have a slight chance of harming the fetus. But why take the chance.

Well most doctors now say... that it is OK to dye your hair, because the chemicals have not been found to harm the baby. Although I waited until my 2nd Trimester to dye my hair, because the first trimester is a very crucial stage. Some women try to dye there hair and it comes out all funky colors because of all there hormones.

They say it.. but studies have shown that it actually has no effect on the fetus however they don't know it conclusively so therefore they still tell you not to do it.. and if you do to make sure you are somewhere well ventalated so you don't enhale the fumes as much.... I say if you are just don't do it.. Is your hair worth the possiblity of harming your fetus... your nails too.. I wouldn't do it... Actually I didn't do it when I was pregnant... I heard you could but I figured it wasn't worth the risk

Because of the chemicals in the coloring. It gets absorbed into your body to the baby, etc...

because your body chemistry is going through changes and along with prenatal pills your hair can become very resistant to chemicals.
