If you go to the FBI website, there is a link that gives you an address you can write and request to see if you have a "file". Local area phone taps are generally easy to detect because they will sometimes interfere with tv and radio signals in the house.

your phone conversation might be recorded, just like if you say bomb, the phone company will pick up on it. I don't know if it is the same with cell phones yet. But I wouldn't worry about it too much, because really when would it come into question?
