We live in condos, we share a common area. Our section was great till some new people moved in, they blast their music whenever they want day or night, and they are just extreamly loud. I am not saying we are the quietest family but there is a time and place for that. My neighbors were so loud this morning at 2:30am!! We could hardly sleep. I don't want to be rude to them, but dang I have kids and we all need to sleep!! Am I supsoed to call the cops? I don't want to piss them off and cause a war or nothing because I mean we do still have to live by them. What should I do? We have an HOA, we own and they rent. Any suggestions for me?? Please help! It's Friday, and you know what that means!

I am a loud neighbor plus I have 2 big dogs in the backyard. My neighbor simply came over and asked me if I would mind putting my dogs up at night because they bark half of the night. It didnt make me mad. They also asked if I could keep it down because their bedroom window is right next to the fence and they can hear us talking when we are in the backyard. It wouldnt do me any good to get pissed off. We still have to live next to each other. Just be cool about it. Start your sentence with " I dont mean to be a bother" or " I feel really bad asking you this, but" or " I feel like an asshole to ask this, but" then they have no reason to get mad. Everybody needs sleep and quietness. It is common courtesy. You can do it.

It's called 9-1-1... Been there done that. First find out what your noise ordinance is in your area. If the neighbor blast past the time of the ordinance then you place a disturbing the piece call to the local authorities. (3x is the charm) they are given a hefty fine. that should do it.

Tell them you have to be up early in the morning and the loud music has been keeping you and your children awake. If you get no response either contact your community association or the police. There are noise control laws.

Tough one - what about the condo board can they intervene with out saying who complained? It is a tough one we have noisy neighbours as well but the children have special needs so we try to be tolerant. IT is really tough though when they leave their dogs out. If you see them you can ask them if they hear you guys cause the walls are a little thin and you can hear their music - that is woke up your kids! Maybe they don't realize it.

Get to know them.
Invite them over, for them to see how paper thin the walls are.
Don't call the police. Make peace.
Say hi to them, make small talk.
People usually are not loud on purpose, its the damn cheap construction of buildings!!
Make peace.
Renters spend the same as owners, over a lifetime.
