Most people either speak well and say nothing or speak poorly and say a lot.
1. Intro
..A. Definition of a puppy mill
..B. Define where you are going with the speech
..C. Define your conclusion
2. Middle
..A. Why they exist
..B. What happens with the dogs
..C. What to look for in stopping puppy mills
3. Hit key points and give your conclusion again

I'm good at writing. The most important thing in a speech like that is to get your tone accross. The tone is where you stand on an issue. You should make strong concise statements that prove your reasoning, and are consistently making the same argument for or against something. The first line of the speech should explain why you feel the way you do. Maybe add a personal touch to it, or maybe not, whichever you think is most appropriate. Don't use more adjectives than you need to describe things. Those are the best tips I can come up with at the moment. Good luck.

I like giving speeches, but I know nothing of puppy mills, so I doubt I could help. I would start by formulating what exactly it is you want to convey about them. First explain what they are and state your opinion of them. Come up with at least three points you want to address, then make a paragraph illustrating each point. Conclude by giving a quick recap of the main points in your speech.
Do not say first, puppy mills are bad because blah, blah, blah. Second, they whatever and third, they whatever. Nobody likes listening to a list. Nobody likes hearing the line "according to the webster's dictionary, a puppy mill is..." (not creatived in the least) and don't say I feel...if you want to give your opinion, say "I believe" instead.
Good luck!

hey i was very bad at speeches...was timid..and used to stammer seeing the huge crowd with mockin looks
but now i got over it...
a simple mantra...treat all those people in front of u as dumbs
i know it sounds cliched but it works.
and one more thing...take a mirror test before u go public...cos u need to convince urself first before u explain the crap to others once u can convince urself then u can do it anyone.
keep a note of all imp points u plan to talk about...take a piece of paper..make a short list of imp points so that at the end of the speech u feel comfortable that u coveerd all points u expected to..
and last but not the least...if a speech goes bad dont worry...its a good experience get the feedback from ur good friend who is a critic. u'll learn a lot from them. the next speech will be better than the first...
ok anways good luck with ur speech.

i used to be very bad at giving speeches, but the thing is giving a speech about something that you are comfortable talking about. prepare for a speeech days in advance and practice and become familiar with the material. take a deep breath before going and just relax when you are comfortable and relaxed ur audience wont be looking at you like your crazy. and they will see like he know what he's talking about. good luck!!
